BLACK LABEL SOCIETY has dropped off the remaining dates on the "Pedal To The Metal Tour" due to the health of frontman Zakk Wylde. Wylde has been diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs and was admitted to a Eugene, Oregon hospital this afternoon.
The "Pedal To The Metal Tour" will continue without BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, and the rest of the bands — MUDVAYNE, STATIC-X, SUICIDE SILENCE and BURY YOUR DEAD — will carry on with the trek as scheduled.
BLS apologizes to ticket holders on the remaining "Pedal To The Metal" dates for the inconvenience, as well as to all BLSNATION meet-and-greet purchasers who gathered for the event this afternoon in Eugene and in the remaining cities. BLSNATION refunds will be processed promptly.

We want to send our prayers to Zakk and his family at this tragic time...SDMF!!!
My father, Jerome F. Wielandt who served as an inspiration to me and my music throughout my life has passed away. His influence on my life and the life of others has motivated me in ways that have been both unexpected and profound.
My father spent his youth as a orphan in New Jersey who was subsequently drafted to serve his country. A World War II veteran, he participated in the events of D-Day at Omaha Beach as well as Normandy.
My father meant more than the world to me, and his passing will no doubt influence my direction in life and career as this new year continues to unfold.
I am asking fans to allow time for me and my family to grieve in private.
In lieu of flowers, our family would like donations made in Jerome F. Wielandt's memory to:

Michelle Meldrum passes away at 39
On Sunday, May 18, Michelle Meldrum, leader of the band MELDRUM and former PHANTOM BLUE guitarist, was rushed to St. Joseph's Hospital in Burbank, California in critical condition. Three days later — Wednesday, May 21 — she passed away as a result of a cystic growth on her brain that had restricted oxygen and blood flow to her brain, rendering her braindead.
Michelle Meldrum was born on September 28, 1968 in Detroit, Michigan to a family of musicians and actors. Michelle moved to Los Angeles, California at the age of 13. She started her career in music by forming the thrash metal band WARGOD with Gene Hoglan, then moved on to become both co-founder and lead guitarist in PHANTOM BLUE. PHANTOM BLUE released its self-titled debut album on Shrapnel Records in the U.S. (Roadrunner in Europe and Japan) and eventually landed a major label deal with Geffen.
While her career flourished, Michelle married EUROPE guitarist John Norum and moved to Sweden to form MELDRUM. After many successful tours with such acts as MOTÖRHEAD and BLACK LABEL SOCIETY, she reunited with Gene Hoglan in 2006 when he appeared as a guest on MELDRUM album and events. Inspired to once again collaborate, Michelle moved back to America where she and Gene began writing the third MELDRUM album together.
Michelle Meldrum, 39, is survived by her parents and three-year-old son Jake Thomas (father is EUROPE guitarist John Norum). A memorial tribute benefit will be announced in the following weeks.

DETROIT -- Darren McCarty has returned to the Red Wings, signing a one-year contract with the team four years after he left Detroit for Calgary.
McCarty earned the opportunity to return to Detroit during productive stints with the American Hockey League's Grand Rapids Griffins and the International Hockey League's Flint Generals, Red Wings general manager Ken Holland said on Monday.McCarty played for Detroit from 1993 to 2004, helping the team win Stanley Cups in 1997, 1998 and 2002. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.The 35-year-old right wing has been assigned to Grand Rapids on a 14-day conditioning loan.McCarty was scoreless in 32 games last season, his second with the Calgary Flames.
